Transcribing weights and heights by hand is where errors creep into a medical record. The seca 452 interface module lets an existing seca scale or measuring station send its readings straight into an electronic medical record system, so the figure in the chart is the figure on the display.

The module fits into a simple mounting bracket on the product itself and is then configured from a central server, which means an existing scale can be brought into the system without replacing it. Patients are identified at the device by scanning a barcode, so the reading lands against the right record.

LEDs on the module tell the user what is happening: ready to use, barcode accepted, measurement transmitted. Data moves over WLAN or LAN.
