The hip belt is the primary anterior support in any seating system, because a stable pelvis is what everything above it depends on. This Spex two point padded hip belt attaches to the wheelchair at two points and gives anterior support to the pelvis for clients with mild to moderate positioning needs.
It uses a centre pull tensioning action. The user or the carer tightens it by pulling the strap away from the buckle, which takes far less hand strength and coordination than tightening at the sides. That makes it a workable option for clients with low muscle tone or general weakness who want to manage their own belt.
The pads are cushioned with soft edge binding so the belt stays comfortable over a long day of sitting. The webbing is ridge woven for grip, and the stainless steel adjusters hold their setting through the day. It is a positioning device and is not a vehicle restraint.
