Some clients cannot be held by a cushion surface alone. The Spex Classic SuperHigh Contour is the deepest of the Classic cushions, and it works by immersing the pelvis and hips in a deep trough with a gel-foam ischial well at the base, so the seat holds the pelvis square instead of asking the client to.
Contouring pads under the thighs can be added, removed or stacked at fitting to manage abduction, adduction and leg length difference, and removable lateral rigidisers stiffen the sides so the shape holds its form under load. The dual-layer cover has breathable air mesh sides and an inner incontinence cover, and the wider sizes add a coccyx channel.
Who it suits
A client with high tone, an asymmetrical pelvis, windswept legs or a strong extensor thrust, for example someone with cerebral palsy or advanced MS in a tilt-in-space or custom chair. It is a good answer for a client who cannot tolerate external thigh supports, because the containment comes from the cushion.
Good to know
- Order by seat width and depth in inches; custom sizes are available outside the standard range
- Set up and pad adjustment should be done by the prescribing therapist
- Cover colours available on request; the standard cover is black
- No routine maintenance required beyond cover laundering
