The OptiCell R6 is an alternating air mattress for prevention and treatment of pressure injury through to the most severe stages. It is aimed at clients who need active pressure redistribution but who feel every movement of a conventional alternating surface.
Its alternating cycle brings each deflated cell back to full inflation before the next one starts, so the client is not lifted and dropped as the mattress works. That matters for anyone who reports nausea or motion sickness on air surfaces, and for clients with pain on movement. Individual cells have check valves, so a cell can be offloaded on its own where there is a wound or a bony prominence to protect.
Micro air loss through the cell surface carries heat and moisture away, which helps manage the microclimate against the skin for a client who perspires or is incontinent. The pump sets itself from the client’s weight and position and keeps its settings if power drops.
