Sitting up, rolling over and shifting up the bed take more out of a carer across a week than any single transfer. The Wi-Bo Self Help Overhead Lifting Pole gives the person an overhead point to pull against, so they do more of that work themselves and the carer does less lifting. It mounts to the bed head on either side and is used on Wissner-Bosserhoff beds in homes, hospitals and aged care.
The pole is steel, made in Germany by Wissner-Bosserhoff, and supplied powder coated or chrome plated depending on the finish available. The triangle handle and strap are ordered separately, so ask for them with the pole.
It suits clients with reasonable upper limb strength and grip who need help to sit up, turn or move up the bed. It is not the right answer where a client cannot pull through their arms, or where the clinical goal is to take load off the shoulders rather than add it.
