SymmetriSleep is a night-time positioning system. A hook and loop receptor sheet goes over the person’s own mattress, and colour-coded brackets and moulded foam cushions fix to it to hold a comfortable, symmetrical lying posture through the night. It can be set up for supine, side lying or prone, on a cot, single bed or a double bed alongside a parent, and works with profiling beds and pressure care mattresses.
What is in the kit
- Base board and fittings
- Positioning brackets with CoolOver pads
- D large oblong Lowzone cushion
Sheets, Airmantle, extra brackets and cushions are listed below as accessories, so the set-up can be matched to the person’s size and posture.
Why OTs and physios use it
Night-time positioning is one part of a 24-hour postural care programme. Thrive works with the prescribing OT or physio to trial, set up and adjust the system in the home, Tasmania-wide. The cushions are filled with crumbed memory foam, so they can be moulded, reduced or topped up as the person grows or their posture changes.
