This version of the Braun splint adds a foot support, so the leg is held in elevation and the foot is held in position at the same time. That second part matters for clients at risk of foot drop, clients with weakness or immobility after surgery, and anyone whose ankle will not stay in neutral without something to work against.
The cushion cradles the thigh and calf and gives the sole a surface to rest on, taking the heel off the bed at the same time. Three sizes are made so the splint can be matched to the client’s leg.
It comes as the pillow, with a washable cover available, and it is simple for carers to place correctly once they have been shown.
