The Spex XLella Classic is a rigid back support built for bariatric wheelchair users. It uses the Spex contouring cube system, so the shape of the back surface is set up, checked and reset as many times as needed without replacing the product. For a client whose shape changes with weight or oedema, that is the difference between adjusting a back and re-ordering one.
The Classic gives a middle level of contour adjustment in the XLella range. That makes it a sensible default for a client with mild bony prominences, some asymmetry, or a need for immersion through the posterior trunk.
The cover is dual layer to reduce shear at the skin surface, with air-mesh side panels to limit heat build up over a large contact area, and it comes off for laundering. Zippered side panels give access for lumbar pads, lateral wedges and asymmetric contour wedges. It is transport certified when mounted correctly, and hardware comes as fixed mount or quick release. Order codes follow the pattern 1258-WWHH-0SS, where WW is width and HH is height in inches.
