The In-Situ Straight Leg is a divided-leg full body sling built to be left under the client after a transfer, subject to a risk assessment. Where a client is hoisted several times a day, that removes most of the handling the sling itself creates, and with it a fair amount of friction against the skin.
The integral head support adjusts and has removable stiffeners, so it can be set to how much support the client actually needs. Low friction fabric on the leg sections and the head support makes the sling easier to slide into place, which is the part carers usually struggle with on a seated client. Fixed colour coded loop tapes come as standard for loop-fixing spreader bars, and soft binding runs throughout, because binding that is fine for a ten minute transfer is not fine for a sling worn all day.
Silva-Superfine Plus is a 3D compression spacer fabric with two-way stretch, which helps redistribute weight while the sling stays in place. It is suitable for bathing and takes a hot wash and a low tumble dry. The size range is unusually wide, covering small children through to large adults.
It suits a client with limited head, trunk and hip control for whom repeated sling fitting is tiring or uncomfortable: advanced neurological disease, high level spinal injury, or poor skin integrity where fitting friction matters.
