A repositioning sheet sits under the person and gives carers proper handles to work with, so the move is a controlled slide, not a drag under the arms. Two carers can work either side of the bed and shift the person up, across or onto their side with far less effort and much less shear on the client’s skin.
The polyester fabric is low friction, launders in a commercial wash and dries fast, which suits a bed in daily use. Like any manual handling aid it needs a documented technique and carers who have been shown how to use it, and it should be checked for wear at each wash.
