till is for the child who cannot take themselves to standing. They are positioned lying down, and the surface raises them through to upright, so the transfer happens without a lift and without the child needing to co-operate actively with it.
Support runs the full length of the body, head to feet. The positioning jacket is elastic and breathable rather than rigid, and the flexible knee positioners spread contact across the knee at whatever angle it sits, which is what keeps a long standing session tolerable. Lateral and pelvic pads hold the trunk, the split footplates adjust in three dimensions with heel edges and a magnetic strap fastening, and five lockable castors keep the frame steady. The reclining action runs on a gas spring or powered, and the length adjusts as the child grows.
Who it suits
Schuchmann put till at GMFCS levels IV to V. A child who can take some weight and wants to move while standing is usually better placed in trixi or todd. till is for the heavier support end, where the first job is getting someone safely upright at all.
