The top plate is the chest plate for a Caribou used in prone. It carries the client’s upper body weight through the sternum and ribcage while they stand tilted forward, which is what lets the head come up and the arms come free.
It mounts to the frame’s chest fitting and is supplied ready assembled, so it goes on as a single part. The face is padded and moulded to spread load across the chest, not concentrate it, and it wipes down between sessions.
Sizing matters more here than on most accessories. A plate that is too small will load a narrow band of the chest and a plate too large will sit into the shoulders, so match it to the frame size your client is in. It is a common replacement part as children grow through the Caribou range.
