A pommel sits between the knees in the Caribou and keeps the legs apart at the position the therapist has set. For children who adduct strongly or who scissor when they stand, it is the part that holds the base of support so the rest of the standing programme can work.
Leg position affects everything above it. If the knees pull together, the pelvis rotates and the trunk follows, and the standing session stops doing what it was prescribed for. A pommel that fits properly holds the legs without digging in, and gives the child a stable position they can tolerate for longer.
Two sizes are available so the pommel can be matched to the child’s build and to the Caribou frame size, with the option to change size as the child grows.
