The R40 Fusion is a rear-wheel drive powerchair for clients who need torque and grip as well as an indoor turning circle. Two-pole motors on large pneumatic drive wheels pull well on gravel, grass and the slopes that rule out a lot of chairs, and the compact base keeps it workable in a house.
Who it suits
This one is specified with power tilt and swing-away legrests, so it suits a client who needs regular pressure relief and postural change through the day, and who transfers in and out with the footplates cleared. Tilt is driven from the controller, which means the client can take relief themselves without waiting for a carer.
The seating system is integrated with the base and intelligent regenerative braking holds it on a descent. Pneumatic castors at the front and solid rear anti-tips round out a frame built for outdoor use.
