Compression stockings are prescribed for good reasons and abandoned for one: the client cannot get them on. A stocking donner holds the stocking open on a frame so the foot can be pushed straight in, then cord handles let the client draw it up the leg while staying upright.
This is a common piece of the puzzle after hip or knee surgery, for clients with limited hip or spinal flexion, and for anyone managing lymphoedema or venous ulcers at home. It removes the deep forward bend and the strong pinch grip that make the task impossible for many people.
Fit matters here, so it is worth checking the client’s stocking type and leg length before ordering.
