A combination pill splitter for clients on a half dose, or on a regimen where the prescribed amount is not what comes out of the packet. A blade held in a guide gives a clean, even split without the client having to hold a tablet steady under a knife.
Splitting by hand is where a lot of dose error and a lot of cut fingers come from, especially for clients with tremor, arthritis or poor vision. Holding the tablet in the cradle takes the precision out of the client’s fingers and puts it into the tool, and the split halves stay caught in the chamber.
The blade is sharp, so it stays closed and out of reach between uses. Not every tablet is safe to split, so check the script first.
