Clients with a fixed kyphosis, a lordotic curve or another established spinal shape are often left unsupported by a flat or gently contoured back, and end up loading their spinous processes against the shell. The NXT Armadillo answers that with a three section modular shell that can be set to follow the curve of the individual spine, with a recessed central channel that off loads the spinous processes.
Who it suits
This version carries a Vicair air cell cushion in place of foam. The cells sit in separate compartments, so a clinician can move air between pockets to fine tune where the contour sits and change it again later as posture alters. That makes it a sensible choice for clients whose shape is progressing, or where the first fit needs refining over several appointments.
An adjustable bottom plate lets you place support directly at the PSIS, and the mounting hooks expand to suit wider chairs, so the back can follow a client through a chair change. The cover is a breathable stretch fabric that comes off for washing.
