For a client at high risk of rolling or climbing out of bed, where rails are not the right answer, the BetterLiving bedside crash mat is what goes on the floor. It is a safety foam mat laid alongside the bed to soften the landing, and it is usually part of a bigger plan with a floorline bed and a bed sensor alarm.
The two surfaces do different jobs. The textured underside grips the floor and stays put when someone lands on it. The low friction nylon top lets a carer slide the mat under the bed and out of the way when they need to get in close. Reflective piping makes it visible at night, it folds into three hinged sections for storage, and it wipes clean with a damp cloth.
