Sometimes the thing standing between a client and getting into bed on their own is one leg. The Homecraft Leg Lifter is a webbing strap that solves exactly that: the upper loop goes around the hand and wrist, the lower stiffened loop slides over the foot, and the stiffened stem in between gives enough control to steer the leg onto a bed, a footstool or into a car.
It is deliberately simple. There are no moving parts to fail, it rolls up into a bag or a bedside drawer, and it wipes clean with a damp cloth. For a lot of clients it is the difference between needing a carer for the transfer and managing it themselves.
It suits a client with a weak or paralysed leg after stroke, spinal cord injury or hip surgery, or with MS, who can use one arm to move the leg. It is commonly issued on discharge alongside a bed transfer plan. If your client has poor grip in both hands, the Dual Handle Leg Lifter with two handles and a centre rod will be easier to manage.
