About this product

The Homecraft Dressing Stick is the workhorse of a lower-body dressing kit. A wooden stick with a double wire hook at one end catches waistbands, straps, zips and loops; the rubber tip at the other end pushes clothing away or holds it still while the client works the other hand.

It covers more than trousers. Pulling a waistband over the feet, pushing a sock off the heel, reaching a sleeve or flicking a collar straight are all within range, which is why it is so often prescribed alongside a sock aid and a long shoehorn after surgery. It is light enough to use one-handed for a whole dressing routine, the shaft is sized for a comfortable grip, and it wipes clean.

It suits a client on hip precautions after replacement, with a stiff or painful back, limited shoulder range, or one-handed dressing after stroke. A client with a weak grip who needs more reach than this gives may be better served by a longer reacher with a trigger jaw.

Good to know

  • No assembly
  • Not a lifting tool; use a reacher for items on the floor
  • Consider adding a Brevetti sock aid and a long shoehorn for a full lower-body dressing kit
