This is the standard trunk support for the smallest Ella frame, supplied complete with the slide extrusion, back plate and pad. It gives a young child a firm surface behind the trunk so the standing position is held by the frame and not by a carer’s hands.
For clients with low trunk tone, a stable back is what allows the arms to be used for something other than propping. Getting that support at the right height, which the slide extrusion allows, keeps it clear of the shoulder blades and off the lower ribs.
It is a sensible starting configuration for a first standing frame, with the option to add laterals later as the child’s needs become clearer.
