Mobility is obviously very near to our hearts at byACRE. It is at the core of modern life, and as such, a part of everyone’s life.
But mobility is not just being able to move around in the neighbourhood anymore. We are travelling and exploring more than ever these days, and the mobility design of the future should therefore enable travelling even more.
With the Carbon Ultralight we wanted to make a mobility design that was meant for both the short strolls and the trips around the world.
With the lightweight materials, easy folding, and sleek lines, it will easily fit in any car, train, boat or airplane, so you can keep discovering the world around you.
Dynamic shape – for speed and a stylish look
Our initial thoughts when designing the Carbon Ultralight was that the design had to be motivating, innovative and stylish.
At the same time, it had to be easy to manoeuvre and provide a smooth, fast and effortless ride. We therefore looked into sources of inspiration where these elements were present.
A part of the inspiration comes from the organic shapes of fast moving animals, such as dolphins, sharks and falcons.
A second inspiration comes from sports car and bicycle design, where dynamic shapes and lightweight materials are used to ensure smooth and fast rides.
Together, these two sources of inspiration formed the dynamic shapes found throughout the Carbon Ultralight. From the frame to forks holding the wheels, and the brake handles.
All for a look that is simple, sleek and stylish.

The smallest details make the biggest difference
Hidden brake cables is one of the details we’re most proud of. And if you ask us, it is much more than a ‘little detail’ – it is at the core of the sleek design of the Carbon Ultralight.
When the cables are hidden inside the frame the expression of the rollator instantly becomes more light and simple.
Handles that make you feel good? Yes, it’s true. Our idea when designing the handles was that besides being ergonomic, they also had to make you feel good and safe.
We therefore formed them in a way so it feels like you are holding someone else’s hand when grabbing on to them.
Furthermore, we decided to turn the handles in the opposite direction as traditional rollators. This gives a better posture while also making the rollator easier to manoeuvre around, because you are using the palms of your hands – not the fingers.
Height adjustment made easy. The height adjustment functionality needed a bit of upgrading. We therefore decided to replace to traditional knob with a button instead. Besides adding sleekness to the handles it also makes the adjusting much easier.
Accessories are a rollator’s best friend
Functionality is key when it comes to mobility design. For the Carbon Ultralight to be even more functional, we’ve designed accessories that make the stroll, trip or adventure a bit better. Our focus has been to provide a range of accessories that are functional, serves more than one purpose, and last but not least; stylish.
Focus on dynamic lines
When our designteam sat down and started drawing the range of accessories, one thing was for sure: They had to use the same dynamic lines from the Carbon Ultralight.
They drew their designs on transparent paper, so they could put them on top of a picture of the Carbon Ultralight and test the different designs up against the lines on the rollator.
Material choices
Besides matching the frame colours of the Carbon Ultralight, the colours of the accessories also had to be convenient. Meaning that they had to be able to resist the elements they meet on strolls, trips and adventures.
The choice fell on a grey, mesh polyester fabric that is wear and weather resistant. The mesh effect makes it difficult to see, if the accessories become dirty – and the polyester is extremely durable and easy to wipe clean.
Weekend bag
Going on a weekend trip or small adventure? The weekend bag offers a convenient way to carry your necessities for a few days away from home. With the two small hooks on the side you can attach a shoulder strap, so it is easy to detach the bag from the rollator and take it with you if you need to fold the rollator for transportation.
Backrest
To better facilitate a rest while out on a trip, we have designed a backrest that supports your lower back while sitting on the seat of your rollator.
Organiser
The organiser is made to hold your personal belongings, such as keys, wallet, napkins, etc. It can be attached to the back of the rollator. With the attachable shoulder strap, the organiser can be carried over your shoulder like a small purse, when you are not using it on the rollator.
The Organiser bag is included when you purchase a Carbon Ultralight Rollator.
Grocery bag
Going shopping? The grocery bag is designed to make your shopping and transportation of it easy breezy.
Made from wear and weather resistant polyester that can easily be wiped clean. It has a classy look and can be folded so it doesn’t take up a lot of space while you’re not using it.
Cane holder
To hold your cane in place while walking with your Carbon Ultralight rollator we have designed this smart and easy-to-use cane holder.
Travel bag
The travel bag for the Carbon Ultralight is a must-have for adventurers who wish to keep their rollator safe and scratch-free during travels.
It is custom-made to fit the dynamic shapes and sleek design of the Carbon Ultralight rollator. The perfect fit makes it easy to place the rollator in the bag and protects the rollator in all the right places. For added protection we have also integrated a protection pad that is placed between the wheels to protect the axles from scratches during transport.
