A wedge changes the angle of the pelvis, and the angle of the pelvis sets everything above it. Tipped forward, it encourages an anterior pelvic tilt and restores the lumbar curve, which takes load off the discs and off the nerves in the lower and mid back.
It can also be turned around. With the thick end forward it resists a client sliding out of the seat, which is useful in a car or in a chair where the client keeps working their way down the cushion through the day.
It is foam, so there is nothing to set up and nothing to fail, and it is light enough for a client to carry between a desk chair, a dining chair and the car. For clients who sit for hours and report back pain by the afternoon, it is an inexpensive thing to test early.
