For clients with dementia, low vision or a visual processing difficulty, a white seat on a white pan in a white bathroom is close to invisible. A strongly coloured seat gives the contrast that lets a person find the toilet, judge where to sit and complete the task without prompting.
That single change often reduces continence incidents and the amount of hands on assistance a carer has to give, which protects a client’s dignity as much as it saves the carer time. It is one of the cheapest interventions in a dementia friendly bathroom plan.
Top and bottom fixing means it mounts securely to a wider range of pans, including those where access underneath the rim is awkward. Once fitted it sits firm and will not rotate when a client uses it to steady themselves.
