Bariatric transfers put a lot of load through a small number of contact points. This four point yoke spreads the sling across four anchor points, so the shoulders and the thighs are each carried on their own strap and the load is shared across the full width of the sling.
Who it suits
It is built for clients being hoisted at higher body weights, where the sling needs to hold its shape through the lift and the person needs to arrive in the chair or bed already close to the position you want them in. The extra attachment points give you more control over the angle the client sits at while suspended, which helps for clients who are anxious in the air or who have pain through the hips and trunk.
The padded cover softens the frame where it can come into contact with the client or the carer, and it wipes down between uses. It works with general purpose loop attachment slings, and carers should be trained on it and check it as part of the usual hoist inspection routine.
