Forward support is often the reason a tray goes on a chair, not the work surface. This one has a body cutout shaped to bring the front edge around the trunk, so a client who tips forward has something to come to rest against and can still reach the surface with both arms supported.
The face is a black laminate over a dense fibreboard core, chosen because it is break resistant and does not scratch up under everyday use. The PVC rim keeps items on the tray when the chair is moving, which is what makes it usable at mealtimes and not only when the chair is parked.
Mounting holes are already drilled, so a communication device or a switch mount can be fitted without modifying the board.
