Wheelchair Rugby League is a newer sport, and the Warrior borrows from two chairs Melrose already had: the light frame of the basketball chair and the strength of the rugby chair. The result is a light frame with heavier bottom rails, reinforced again with extra tubing running to a capped wing.
Rugby League is non contact, so the strength is not there for collisions. It is there because experience has shown that a strong chair holds its geometry and keeps performing across a long season, while a lighter one starts to move.
Seat width and back can be tapered, back upholstery tension is adjustable, and the Ergo seat system is available for a more supported position. Anti-tips come single or double swivel, footplates in ABS or alloy, fixed or fully adjustable, and there is a choice of Spinergy wheels and spoke guard designs including polyethylene. Wheel, pushrim, glove and strap options carry over from the Rhino rugby chair.
