A flexible sock aid gives reach where a rigid one cannot. The Homecraft Terry Cloth Sock Aid holds a sock open on a slotted plastic core, so your client pushes the foot in and then pulls the aid straight out by the tapes, all without bending to the floor.
The slots in the core let it flex around the heel instead of fighting it, which is where a rigid shell often catches. Terry cloth on the outside grips the sock and keeps it in place; nylon on the inside lets the foot slide through with very little friction. Both tapes end in loop handles, so a client with one working hand can still use it, and the tapes give a longer working reach than a short rigid aid does.
It suits a client on hip precautions after replacement, with limited hip and back flexion, a hemiplegic hand, or unsteady sitting balance who wants to dress without a carer in the room. It hand washes. For compression stockings, which are far tighter, a purpose-made stocking applicator is the right call.
