Height is half of every body composition and BMI calculation, and typing in a figure the client half remembers undermines the result. The seca 257 adds ultrasonic height measurement to a seca measuring station, so stature is captured at the same visit as weight and passes into the same record.
Measurement is contactless. Paired ultrasound sensors read the top of the head while the clinician stands clear, which removes the usual fiddling with a headpiece and takes a cross infection route out of the process. Automatic calibration means there is nothing to set before each client.
The range covers children through to tall adults, so a single station serves a mixed caseload in a clinic, a rehabilitation unit or a research setting.
