A shower base insert levels out the sloped floor of an existing shower base so a shower commode or a wheeled chair can roll straight in. For a client who is blocked by a hob or a dished base, it is a way to get wheeled access without pulling the bathroom apart.
The insert is cut from non slip polyethylene marine board and made to the measurements of the individual shower base. It is installed with drainage holes and clearance at the sides so water still runs to the waste, and it has a cut-out handle on one side so it can be lifted out for cleaning or when the tenancy ends.
It is normally paired with a timber or rubber access wedge at the entry so the transition from the bathroom floor is smooth.
