Infants in extended care are at real risk of tissue damage, and their skin has very little tolerance for pressure or shear. The nesting pad is an air cell surface designed for them: cells of varying height that form a gentle concave shape, so the baby is contained and supported.
The surface conforms to the infant’s body, which spreads contact over a wider area and keeps shear low during handling. It also allows lines, leads and small devices to sit between the infant and the surface without creating a pressure point.
It is made from neoprene that resists fluid and cleans with soap and water, and it is light enough to travel with the infant between care areas.
