Less weight in the hand is the point, because the battery comes off and gets carried separately every time the scooter is loaded into a car.
Lithium chemistry also makes the paperwork side of travel simpler for clients who fly, and it charges faster than a sealed lead acid pack.
It supports both on board and off board charging, so the client can leave it in the scooter overnight in the garage, or bring just the battery inside to a power point in a motel room or a hospital ward. That flexibility is often what decides it for clients who travel.
