About this product

The Homecraft Curved Transfer Board is for seated sideways transfers where a straight board does not follow the path: wheelchair to bed, toilet or car seat. The curve takes the board around the wheelchair wheel and follows the arc the client actually travels, and the narrowed middle keeps the weight down without losing support at the ends.

It is moulded from reinforced plastic that resists chipping and splintering, is waterproof and wipes clean between users, which makes it practical for shared use. Non slip pads underneath hold it on both surfaces, and because it is MRI safe it can travel with a client to imaging.

Who it suits

A client with reasonable sitting balance and upper body strength who cannot stand to transfer but can shuffle sideways, for example a wheelchair user with paraplegia or a client after a stroke with a stronger side. The curve makes it useful for car transfers where the seat is offset from the wheelchair. A client who cannot bear weight through the arms or lift their bottom needs a hoist or a sit-to-stand aid rather than a board.

Good to know

  • Remove the wheelchair armrest on the transfer side and lock the brakes before use
  • Contains natural rubber latex in the grip pads
  • For lying transfers between bed and trolley, see the SallyBoard lateral transfer board
