This set is about weight as much as grip. A knife, fork, dessert spoon and teaspoon with stainless steel heads sit in cylindrical foam handles, and the whole set barely registers in the hand. The foam is wide enough that the fingers do not need to close tightly to hold on, and soft enough to be comfortable against painful joints.
It is the set to reach for with a client who has reduced grip strength or painful finger joints, rheumatoid arthritis being the common one, and who can still bring a spoon to the mouth but cannot manage standard cutlery. The light weight also helps a client with a weak arm who tires through a meal. A client with tremor usually does better with weighted cutlery, and a client with a fixed wrist posture may need an angled or bendable set instead.
The foam is latex free. It is hand wash only, so it is worth flagging that with the client or the care team before it goes into a dishwasher by mistake.
