Tray clamps do not always sit flush on every armrest or tube, and a clamp that is slightly loose will let the tray rock. These thin spacers take up that gap so the toggle clamp bites evenly and the tray stays where it was set.
It is a small part that solves a real problem for the person fitting the tray, because a stable tray is what makes upper limb support, feeding and device mounting reliable. They are supplied as a pair, which covers both clamps on a single tray.
