The K Care Grip Handle Bed Pole is a simple bedside support for a client who can still move themselves but needs something to hold onto. It sits under the mattress on a flat base and stands up beside them as an upright hand grip, used for rolling over, pulling up to sitting and steadying on the way to standing.
It can go on the left or the right, and it can be positioned along the bed wherever the client reaches most naturally. Nothing needs tools, and a strap is supplied to secure the base to the bed frame once you have the position right. The powder coated white steel suits a domestic bedroom and wipes clean.
Think of it for a client with early Parkinson’s, general weakness or a recent hip, where a standard bed at home is otherwise working fine. Check the base sits flat between the mattress and the bed base. A client who is confused, or who could become entrapped between the pole and the mattress, should be assessed before it is issued. It is a hand grip for a client who can move themselves, not a support to be pulled up on.
Good to know
- Not suitable for use on a bed with an adjustable or profiling base unless checked by the assessor
- Assess entrapment risk before issuing on a soft or narrow mattress
- K Care code KA526; the Cobra Bed Pole KA525 is the rail-style alternative
