A manual mobilisation assistor gives a resident something solid to hold when they are repositioning themselves in bed. It mounts to the bed frame and puts a handle within reach, so rolling, sitting up and moving up the bed become things the person can start on their own.
That is worth encouraging. Residents who can shift their own weight maintain more strength and dignity, and staff are called in for fewer routine repositions. For a client working on bed mobility with a physio, it also gives a consistent hand hold to practise against.
The handle is shaped to be gripped comfortably from a lying or half sitting position, and it is the kind of low cost addition that often makes a bigger difference than the equipment around it.
