A PC based ECG records a 12 lead trace through a laptop or desktop computer, so the trace lands straight in the patient record and can be printed, stored or sent on from the same screen. That suits general practice, aged care and community services where the recording is done in the room and read somewhere else.
The unit connects to the computer and the patient cable, and the software handles acquisition, review and reporting. Staff work from a full size screen, which makes lead placement checks and rhythm review easier than on a small device display.
Because the software does the storage, there is no paper archive to manage and no device memory to clear between patients.
