Home blood pressure readings are only useful if the client will actually take them, and a wrist monitor removes the fiddly job of wrapping a cuff around an upper arm one handed. This one wraps at the wrist, then runs on a single button: it inflates to the right pressure on its own and reports systolic pressure, diastolic pressure and pulse rate.
It uses the oscillometric method, the same approach as a clinic automatic monitor. Readings are stored on the device so the last set can be shown at an appointment without a paper diary.
A low battery indicator and automatic power down keep it ready between uses. It is a reasonable option for clients with limited hand function, arthritis or low vision who need self monitoring to be simple.
