When a child stands in a Caribou and needs their trunk or hips held a little more closely, this strap works together with the removable lateral supports to close the gap at the front. It takes the pads from guiding the child to actually holding them.
You can run it straight across between the two side pads, or thread it along the inside, under the pad holders and back out around the child, which gives a snugger wrap. That second option is worth knowing about for a client who tends to slip forward out of the laterals during a longer standing session.
It buckles and releases quickly, so a carer can get the child in and out without unpicking the rest of the set-up.
