Weeks of non weight bearing on crutches wear people out fast. The Redgum Comfort Ride gives your client another option: kneel the injured leg on the padded platform, push with the sound foot and steer with the handlebars. Hands stay free at the handles rather than carrying body weight, and most people cover far more ground with far less fatigue than they manage on crutches.
Air filled tyres take the sting out of footpaths, driveways and the joins in concrete, and hand brakes can be set up for either side depending on which hand the client prefers. Both the knee pad and the handlebars adjust for height, so the walker can be set to keep the hip and back neutral rather than the client working around a fixed frame. It folds for the car boot.
Who it suits
People recovering from foot or ankle surgery, fractures, Achilles repairs and similar injuries who have good standing balance on the sound leg, a stable knee on the injured side and the upper body strength to steer and brake. It is usually a short term hire item, used for the weeks of non weight bearing before rehab progresses to partial weight bearing.
