A sealed jar stops a lot of people cooking for themselves. The One Touch takes the twisting out of it: sit the opener on the jar, press the button, and it grips the jar, turns the lid and stops once the seal breaks. Nothing has to be braced against the body or held between the knees, so it works just as well one handed.
Because the machine does the gripping as well as the turning, it copes with new factory sealed jars, not only ones that have been opened before. It sits on the bench or stores in a drawer, and it is ready to use as soon as the batteries go in.
This is a practical option for clients with arthritis, reduced grip strength, tremor or the use of one hand, and for anyone who wants to keep preparing their own meals without asking for help. It is often recommended as part of a kitchen and daily living assessment alongside other simple aids.
