A hip belt is the first line of postural support on any seating or bathing chair. This one crosses the pelvis and holds it back into the seat, which is what stops a client sliding forward and losing the position the rest of the setup depends on. Get the pelvis right and the trunk and head usually follow.
The upholstered padding spreads the load across the hips, so a client can wear it for a long routine without a pressure line or a complaint. That matters most for clients who cannot tell you the belt is digging in.
It is ordered by belt width and length to suit the client and the chair.
