A sling seat wheelchair sags in the middle, and a cushion sitting on it sags with it. The client’s thighs roll inwards, the pelvis drops back and every bit of postural work you did on the cushion is undone by the upholstery under it.
The Contour Base is a light moulded base that goes inside the cushion cover, between the cushion and the bottom of the cover, to give the cushion a firm foundation. With it in place the seat surface stays level, the femurs stay where they were set, and the client gets an anti thrust shape that resists sliding forward.
It fits under most ROHO cushions and adds very little weight to a chair, which matters for anyone self propelling or lifting the chair into a car. It has no weight limit, though it does need to be sized correctly to the person and the chair.
