Spex Quad Mount is the standard hardware for the Spex back support range, and for most prescriptions it is the one to start with. Four attachment points on the back canes give noticeably better lateral stability than a two point mount, and the back still adjusts for depth and angle at fitting and at review.
The detail clinicians tend to appreciate is the forward lock, which stops the back support falling forward during a transfer. For a client doing side transfers, or leaning on the back during a sliding board transfer, that removes a real hazard. The optional extension kit adds a lot more depth range, which gives room for growth in a paediatric prescription or for change in a progressive one, and upper extensions widen the angle range.
It fits round back canes in the common sizes and the hardware is aluminium, so the weight penalty over a lighter mount is small. Safe working load depends on the size of back support fitted, so check that against the back you are specifying.
