The sling bar is the part that decides what shape a client ends up in once they leave the bed. Molift bars hang from an Air ceiling hoist or a Mover mobile hoist, take the sling loops, and change out through a quick-release coupling so a carer can swap between them without tools.
Bar width and point count both matter. A narrower bar closes the sling and sits the client more upright; a wider one opens it out and gives a more reclined, spread position. The 4-point bar holds the sling open at the shoulders and the legs, which is the usual answer for a larger client, for high tone, or for a sit-to-lie transfer. The 8-point steel stretcher frame is for a client who has to be moved flat, after spinal surgery or with a fracture.
They are aluminium, apart from the stretcher, so they stay light in the carer’s hands through a day of transfers.
Good to know
- Safe working load is set by the hoist and bar together; ask us for the rating of the combination you are using
- Sling not included
- Clean with a pH 5 to 9 solvent-free cleaner or 70 percent disinfectant
- Check the sling loop size suits the bar width before use
