About this product

Washing your own feet and back sounds trivial until a stiff hip or a sore shoulder makes it impossible. The Homecraft Long Handled Sponge gives that job back to the client. The oval foam head sits on a plastic-coated wire shaft that bends to whatever angle suits and then holds it, so the client reaches around rather than twisting into pain.

Two lengths are made, the shorter one for the lower legs and back and the longer one for washing feet while seated on a shower stool. The built-up handle is designed for a weak or arthritic grip, and neither version is heavy enough to tire an arm halfway through a shower.

It suits a client recovering from a hip or knee replacement, living with arthritis, or managing back pain, provided they can still hold a light handle. A client with very poor grip will usually do better with a wash mitt or a sponge fitted with a strap. Rinse and squeeze it out after each shower and let it dry.

Good to know

  • No assembly, ready to use
  • Foam heads wear with use and the sponge is treated as a personal consumable
  • Pair with a shower stool or bath board for seated washing
