The sausage pillow is the long, soft piece that fills the gaps a supported lying set up leaves behind, under a knee, along a forearm, behind a back or between the legs. It gives the body contact where it would otherwise hang unsupported, and that contact is often what lets a client relax enough to sleep.
Two sizes cover small and large bodies, and a wipeable inner is available for clients who need frequent cleaning. Placed inside the base layer mesh, it stays put and is not pushed out over the night.
Therapists tend to use it for fine tuning after the lateral supports and the leg support are set, and families find it the easiest piece to place correctly once they have been shown the shape they are aiming for.
