Vest straps do the work of holding a client in the position their seating was set up to give them, and they are the part that wears. This is the top strap with a bottom finger loop, the male half of the buckle and a camlock, in the non hinged style.
The finger loop matters in practice: a carer standing behind the chair can pull the strap down to tension without reaching around the client, which makes the fit repeatable between different support workers. The camlock holds that tension through the day.
Replacing a single strap keeps the rest of the vest in service and keeps the client in a garment that already fits them.
